SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The (RV) Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's volleyball team prevailed after three tough sets vs. Cornerstone (Mich.) University 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-18) on Saturday afternoon in Southfield, Mich. Lawrence Tech (12-1, 6-0) continued their winnings ways. This win makes it nine straight for the Blue Devils. The Blue Devils were led by Jessica Lodge who amassed 12 kills and Kristi Doherty led the team in assists with 21. Also some key contributors were Isabella McDonald who collected nine kills, and Shelby Rasch paced the team with 13 digs.
The Blue Devils and the Golden Eagles were trading points early in the first set, until the Blue Devils were able to stretch the lead to 10-5. The lead remained between four and six until the Blue Devils finished the set scoring the last four points to win 25-17.
Once again the two teams started out by trading points back and forth to begin the set. The Blue Devils were able to grow their lead to five, but the Golden Eagles were able to hang around and eventually evened up the set at 20-20 by scoring four straight points. It was a battle for the final five points. The two teams were tied at 23, until the Blue Devils scored the next two to take the set.
The Blue Devils were able to get out to an early four point lead (6-2) and they never looked back. The Golden Eagles were able to get within two, but were never able to bring the game back to even. The Blue Devils finished out the Golden Eagles with a 25-18 win.
Lawrence Tech takes on Madonna (Mich.) University on Wednesday, October 2nd at Don Ridler Field House. First serve set for 7 p.m.
