UPLAND, Ind.-The Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) women's tennis team dominated in their season opener vs. the Trojans of Taylor University. The Blue Devils won the match on the road by a score of 4-0.
To start the scoring for the match, the Blue Devils won two out of three doubles matches. In the #1 doubles match, the duo of Sabrina Mateos and Maria Hazas won vs. their opponents. Also winning for the Blue Devils were the pair of Samantha Kohn and Carolin Minners in the #2 doubles match. Alice Radde and Sam Weber dropped their match in the #3 doubles match. After the conclusion of the doubles matches, the LTU women's tennis team had a 1-0 lead over the Trojans.
In the singles' competitions, the Blue Devils accomplished the clean sweep: winning all three matches. Hazas proved to be too much for her opponent from Taylor University. She won both of her sets by a score of 6-0 in the #1 singles. In the #2 singles, Mateos won in straight sets as well, 6-1 and 6-1. Wrapping up the night was the #3 singles match. Minners continued the dominance by also winning in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-4. This victory sealed the last point and allowed the Blue Devils to win the match by a score of 4-0.
The LTU women's tennis team will look to continue their impressive start on Saturday, September 31st at Spring Arbor University. Stay tuned for updates on the start of this match, as the details are still being decided upon.
