GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological University women's lacrosse team fell in the NAIA National Lacrosse Invitational quarterfinal against the NO. 1 team in the country, SCAD, 22-10, concluding their 2019 season.
Leading the team was Anna Gagnon with five points from four goals and one assist. Teagan Laier had four assists on the night, followed by a three point performance with two goals and one assist from Kady Waits. Waits also led the team in ground balls with eight and caused turnovers with four. Gabi Larkin led the team in draw controls with eight. Dorie Coggin had 12 saves.
What hurt the Blue Devils the most was their turnovers, gathering 39 on the night, which the Bee's capitalized multiple times. SCAD also scored on four of their nine free position shots.
Despite a Blue Devil surge in the first half, holding SCAD for 15 minutes to only three goals while they scored five quick goals, ending the first half down 13-6. Going into the second, the Bee's opened the half with five goals before LTU could answer. While Lawrence Tech fought until the end, they concluded their season 10-9 overall.
