GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Following the opening of the NAIA Women's Lacrosse National Invite for 2019, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced their All-America teams and gave out the coach and player of the year awards.
Three Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils made the list, with Anna Gagnon and Maddie Barnewold being selected for Second Team All-American Accolades and Abby Barnewold collecting First-Team All-American Accolades.
Gagnon, a junior attacker out of Grand Haven, Mich. is ninth in the NAIA for assists with 32 and 11th in the nation for goals with 56. Gagnon is a powerhouse for the attack with quick hands and slick stick skills. Gagnon was a WHAC Conference First-Team selection and the WHAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Maddie Barnewold, a senior defender from Oxford, Mich. is a key component of the Blue Devil defense, with 14 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers this season, capitalizing her career with five goals, five assists, 85 total ground balls and 58 caused turnovers.
Abby Barenwold, a sophomore defensive midfielder from Lake Orion, Mich. has had an impressive year between the thirties and down on defense. She has seven goals, 10 assists, 39 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers this year. Barnewold was placed on the All-WHAC Conference First Team and named WHAC Defensive Player of the Year.
