No. 8 Women's Lacrosse Faces NO. 1 SCAD in First Round of National Invite


GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grabbing an At-Large Bid into the NAIA National Invitational, the Lawrence Technological University women's lacrosse grabbed the NO. 8 spot overall, where they will face the NO. 1 seed SCAD Savannah (Ga.) on Thursday, May 9th at 4 p.m.

Coming in with an 10-8 record and narrow losses to other NAIA national invitees, the Blue Devils will face for the first time this season the Bees in Grand Rapids, Mich. where the tournament is hosted. The winner of the game will go on to play in the semifinals on May 10th.

The Blue Devils are led by the offensive prowess of Anna Gagnon, Gabi Larkin and Ashley Sherry. Gagnon ranks 9th in total assists with 32, 11th in total goals with 56, 11th in assists per game and 12th in points per game. Larkin is 17th in the nation for total assists with 23 and 11th in the nation for draw controls. Sherry is 18th in the nation for assists with 22. Dorie Coggin is 7th in the nation for saves with 133.

Highlighting the team is the WHAC offensive and defensive players of the year, Gagnon and Abby Barnewold. Along with several first and second team nods, they will face the 11-1 Bees. The lone loss for the Bees this season was an 18-6 decision against University of Mount Olive in the early moments of their 2019 campaign.
