WEEKLY PREVIEW: WLAX Faces Lourdes on Wednesday, Travel to Play New Program Rochester Saturday

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - After winning 13-10 in their first WHAC game of the season against NO. 10 Siena Heights last Saturday, the Lawrence Technological University women's lacrosse team looks onward for two more WHAC match ups for the week of March 25th. They start their week off hosting (RV) Lourdes University (Ohio) on Wednesday March 27 at Farmington Hills Harrison High School where the draw is set to go up at 4 p.m. Their week concludes on the road against newly added WHAC member and lacrosse team Rochester College (Mich.) on March 30th at an indoor field in Pontiac, Mich.

The Blue Devils (2-6, 1-1) are led by Anna Gagnon (JR/Grand Haven, Mich.). Gagnon averages 3 goals a game with 25 goals already this season and 33 points. Gabi Larkin (JR/South Lyon, Mich.) leads the team in assists at 10, draw controls at 28 and ground balls at 27. However, Larkin and Gagnon are not alone on attack, with several other heavy hitters including Teagan Laier(SO/Howell, Mich.) who has had eight goals in the last three games alone, Kaylee Patterson (SO/Grand Blanc, Mich.) who had three goals in the last game and Ashley Sherry (SO/Savage, Minn.) who also has eight goals in the last three games.

Defensively, Dorie Coggin (SO/Hamilton, Ohio) still sits high at the 6th spot in the national rankings for saves with 66 total saves. Three Blue Devils, Kady Waits, Maddie Barnewold and Abby Barnewold (SO/Lake Orion, Mich.) each have double digit caused turnovers thus far this season.

Going into this game, Lourdes sits at 4-6 this season overall and 1-0 in the WHAC with a recent 22-1 win against Rochester College. They are led by their goalie Jacque Pappadakes who ranks 3 in the NAIA with 83 total saves. The team is under the direction of former Blue Devil Alyssa Shaver.

The newly added Rochester College is 0-2 this season with losses to both Cleary (Mich.) and Lourdes, where they fell 22-1 in each game.
