WAUSEON, Ohio- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's golf team kicked off the 2019-20 fall season with a second-place performance at the Defiance College Invitational on September 7-8 at the Ironwood Golf Course. The LTU Blue Devils had a 15-shot comeback on the final round of the tournament with a 315 (+27) team score to capture medalist honors after finishing the first day of competition in sixth place with a 330 (+42) team score. Grace (Ind.) College took the tournament with a 613 (310-303) total team score.
Rachel Kristian was the top finisher for LTU with a seventh-place performance as she had a two-round score of 157 (80-77), her personal-best tournament score. The Canton, Mich. native finished nine shots short behind leader Anna Marshall from Grace. Manasa Potluri joined Kristian on the top 10 as she finished tied in ninth with a 159 (81-78). Alex Manalang tied in the 17th spot after carding a 162 (83-79), while Lauren Hartline tied in 30th with a 172 (91-81). Julia LeFere rounded out LTU's lineup with a 174 (86-88) and a tie for 34th place.
Lawrence Tech's B team finished 12th with a 745 (378-367) team score. Sara Davis led the way for the team as she took 41st place with a 178 (92-86) score, setting her personal-best round on the second day. Elizabeth Vos followed with a 53rd finish as she carded a 185 (96-89). Morgan Osborne shot a 190 (93-97) to finish 57th, while Kirsten Crawford took the 59th spot with a 192 (97-95). Nicole Waldenmeyer finished 66th with a 203 (98-105).
The tournament's team top 5 was rounded out by Grace College B with a 648 (327-321), Madonna (Mich.) University with a 650 (329-321), and Siena Heights (Mich.) University with a 653 (331-322).
Women's Golf will be back in action on September 23-24 when they host the LTU Blue Devil Classic at the Treetops Resort in Gaylord, Mich.
