SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference office announced on Monday, August 12 that the Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's golf team was picked fifth in the 2019-20 coaches' preseason poll after receiving 94 points, climbing one spot in comparison to last year's poll. Last season, the Blue Devils finished sixth in the WHAC regular season and fifth at the WHAC Championship.
The first pick was the University of Northwestern Ohio after receiving seven first-place votes and 139 points. The Racers are the current winners of the WHAC Championship. Indiana Tech followed with five first-place votes and 136 points. The Warriors enter the 2019 season as the reigning champions of the WHAC regular season. Siena Heights (Mich.) University and Aquinas (Mich.) College rounded out the top five with 109 and 98 points, respectively.
Following the Blue Devils are Madonna (Mich.) University with 89 points, Lourdes (Ohio) University with 77, Cleary (Mich.) University with 63, Cornerstone (Mich.) University with 55, Rochester (Mich.) University with 28, Concordia (Mich.) University - Ann Arbor with 26, and University of Michigan – Dearborn with 22.
Lawrence Tech will kick off the 2019-20 season on September 7-8 at the Defiance College Invitational. The tournament will take place in Wauseon, Ohio at Ironwood Golf Course. Their first WHAC Jamboree will be hosted by Cleary on September 27-28 at Chemung Golf Course in Howell, Mich.
