Blue Devils Overwhelm Crusaders 111-32

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's basketball team defeated Great Lakes Christian (Mich.) College 111-32 in the Don Ridler Field House this morning.

How it Happened

The Blue Devils started the game on a 16-0 run by making 8 of 12 field goals. By the end of the first quarter, Lawrence Tech had built a 25-point lead. The Blue Devils closed the first quarter up by 25 points, 32-7, shooting 52.8 percent from the field.

Hope Dollarhide (JR/Dorr, Mich.) opened the second quarter with a two-point field goal. Halfway through the second quarter, Teryn Kline (SO/Fort Wayne, Ind.) made her lone steal of the game, which led Kendall Fisher (FR/Indianapolis, Ind.) to score a layup to push the score 40-7. Nicole Buckingham (SR/Saginaw, Mich.) closed the first half of the game with a field goal to give the Blue Devils a 59-13 lead. Lawrence Tech recorded nine assists, two steals and one turnover in the second quarter.

The Crusaders struggled to put points up in the third quarter as Lawrence Tech put the game away with a 35-6 quarter shooting 54.2 percent from the field, including 7-for-10 from beyond the arc. Halfway through the third quarter, the Blue Devils were able to put together a 22-2 run that started when Cherilyn Banas (SR/Oxford, Mich.) scored a field goal from beyond the arc with 04:04 to go.

Alex Ruster (SR/Warren, Mich.) opened the fourth quarter with one three-point field goal and a layup within the first minute. The Blue Devils continued to dominate the game with a 17-13 quarter to close the game 111-32. Lawrence Tech shot 7-for-18 from the field in the final quarter, which included a 1-for-8 from beyond the arc and a 2-for-2 from the line.


Game Trends

-Blue Devils scored 30 points off turnovers compared to nine for Great Lakes Christian.

-The Lawrence Tech bench outscored Great Lakes Christian bench 59-1.

-The Blue Devils had 20 second chance points. The Crusaders had four.

-Alex Ruster scored a team and career high of 20 points on 8-for-12 including 4-for-7 from three. Ruster also recorded a career high of 13 rebounds in 20 minutes of action.

-Emily Langolf (SO/ Macomb, Mich) recorded a game and career high of 10 assists.

-Hope Dollarhide recorded a career high of 12 rebounds.

-Nicole Buckingham and Kaitlyn Smith (JR/Holly, Mich.) had a team high of two steals. In addition, Buckingham had 10 rebounds, four assists, and shot 100 percent from beyond the arc.

-The team finished the game shooting 51.2 percent from the field, 40.5 percent from beyond the arc and 76.9 percent from the line.

-The Blue Devils recorded 33 assists with eight turnovers and nine steals.


Crusaders by the Numbers

-Kerlunda Dervil led Great Lakes Christian with 13 points as she shot 6-for-28 from the field.

- Mystic Striker recorded the team high of two assists with three steals.

-The Crusaders shot 17.8 percent from the field and 18.2 percent from the three-point arc.

-The team had 14 turnovers, three assists with six steals, and two blocks.
