SOUTHFIELD, Mich.- Nicole Buckingham (SR/Saginaw, Mich.) of the Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's basketball team was named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete, announced the league office on Monday, March 11. This is the second year in a row that Buckingham earns this honor.
In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status. Buckingham joins 312 student-athletes who were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes this year. The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference claimed 26 honorees.
Buckingham, a biomedical engineering major, finished the season pacing the conference with 18.6 points per game while leading the Blue Devils with 309 boards and 50 blocks.
