Aquinas (22-7, 15-4) leads the all-time series against Lawrence Tech (21-8, 13-6), 7-6. This is the second time the sides meet this season. On Wednesday, January 9, LTU fell to the Saints, 53-51, at the Don Ridler Field House. Kaitlyn Smith led the Blue Devil charge with 10 points. Nicole Buckingham contributed with nine points and paced the squad with 12 boards and two assists.
Last week, LTU defeated its three WHAC foes. First, the University of Michigan-Dearborn (24-6, 15-5), 73-68, on Monday, February 11. Then, Cornerstone (Mich.) University (2-28, 1-19), 83-52, on Wednesday, February 13. Finally, the University of Northwestern Ohio (10-20, 6-14), 67-61, on Saturday, February 16.
Through 29 games, Lawrence Tech has shot 41.4 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 75.1 percent from the line. Buckingham has gone 35-for-35 from the charity stripe in the last four games. On the defensive end of the court, LTU leads the nation allowing just 53.1 points per outing.
Buckingham paces the WHAC with an average of 18.7 points per contest and is ranked 10th in the NAIA for total scoring, 542. She also sits fourth in the nation for defensive rebounds per game, 8. Rachel Price leads the Blue Devils, and ranks second in the WHAC, with 45 blocks. Lawrence Tech is seventh in the NAIA for total blocks, 126. Cherilyn Banas paces the team in assists, as she dishes out an average of 3.08 per game.
Aquinas has shot 43.1 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from deep. The Saints average 67.2 points per contest and allow 56.7. Michaela Faber leads the squad with 13.6 points and 7.8 boards per game. Carley Andrews paces the Saints with 84 assists and 67 steals.
