Strong Second Half was the Difference for the Blue Devils; Wright and Jaramillo Net a Goal Each for a 2-0 Win.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—The Lawrence Technological University men's soccer team (4-6, 3-1) kept things rolling in the right direction during a Wednesday evening contest vs. the hosting Saints of Aquinas (Mich.) College (2-5-4, 1-2-1). The Blue Devils topped the Saints by a score of 2-0 and have now won four of their last five, including three straight.

In the first half of this matchup, neither team was able to get on the scoreboard. The Blue Devils were able to out shoot the Saints 8-3, but this did not lead to goals. Nico Rodriguez lead the Blue Devils in shots with three, and one was on goal. Max Jewett faced two shots on goal in the first half but was able to turn both of these scoring opportunities away.

The second half saw the Blue Devils pull away to capture the win. Fast forwarding to the 63rd minute, Juan Jaramillo lined up for a corner kick and got it just high enough for Kevin Wright to head the ball past the Saints' keeper to score his fourth goal of the season. This gave the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead and it did not take much longer for this lead to grow. Saints' goalkeeper was given a yellow card in the 65th minute, and this allowed the Blue Devils to take a penalty kick. Jaramillo was the Blue Devil selected for the penalty kick, and he was able to capitalize on the opportunity, giving the Blue Devils a 2-0 lead.

It was another complete game by the Blue Devils who dominated in every statistical category. They outshot the Saints 26-7, allowed zero shots on goal in the second half, and had the ball down in Saints' territory the entire match.

The second half was key to the victory and when asked about what his halftime message was to his team, Head Coach Will Dyer stated, "We made some adjustments, but as a coaching staff we told the boys to stick with our original game plan. The boys played a great second half. Aquinas is always a tough place to play."

The Blue Devils will be back on the field on Saturday October 12th. They will be making another road trip, this time to Cleary (Mich.) University (3-4, 1-2). The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm.
