FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - The Lawrence Technological University ACHA DI team faced the University of Michigan-Dearborn at the Blue Devils home ice rink and fell 5-1. While typically there is a second game to play this weekend, the teams are holding off, creating a three game stint in February.
The Blue Devils (6-4-0, 6-4-0)were dominated by the Wolverines (9-1-0, 6-1-0) from the start. A goal in the last five minutes of the first period by UMD and a disqualification of a Blue Devil player rounded up the first period.
In the second, the Wolverines scored six minutes into the period, however, an unassisted deflected shot by Thimo Ey only two minutes later narrowed the deficit to 2-1. Then, with six minutes left in the period, Dearborn found the back of the net again.
The third saw two early goals from Dearborn in the first six minutes of the period. The Wolverines had 36 shots, 31 of which were saved by Krul. LTU only pulled off 21 shots, and of the ones on net, the Wolverine keeper stopped all but one. The Blue Devils gave the Wolverines six opportunities to score in penalties, but only let one in, including stopping Dearborn in a 5 on 3 situation.
Lawrence Tech has the next week off, coming back on November 22 to host Cleary University where the puck is set to drop at 5:45 p.m.
