SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University women's lacrosse team was named a 2016-17 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad, the IWLCA announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The IWLCA also announced its 2016-17 Zag Sports NAIA Academic Honor Roll with four Blue Devils earning the honor this year. Katelyn Watson, Marci Schaeffer (SR/Eaton Rapids, Mich.), Alyssa Melotik, and Kadijah Kalo were all named to the honor roll for their work in the classroom, having over a 3.50 grade point average. The team earned its academic award with a 3.33 GPA this season. The Blue Devils were one of five teams to earn the team honor and were second in the NAIA honor roll with four student-athletes.
To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year. For the honor roll, To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
