LIMA, Ohio – The No. 24-ranked Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's tennis team was defeated 5-0 this morning by No. 4 University of Northwestern Ohio in the championship round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.
Lawrence Tech (20-6, 4-3) fell behind 3-0 early, dropping all three doubles flights. At first doubles, Javier Alvarez and Juan Bermudez battled with Radu Popa and Iustin Baciu but were overcome 8-5. Vincent Colarossi and Stijn Bremer were unable to upend Jean-Marc Krone and Ronnie Myburgh at second doubles, falling 8-1 while Jan Horstkoetter and Mason Wenzel dropped their match 8-3 to Theo Baudin and Gjorgji Popovski.
Four of the six single matches were left unfinished, including first, second, fourth and sixth. Third singles was won by Popovski over LTU's Robert Saitov 6-0, 6-3 while Myburgh took fifth singles 6-1, 6-4 over Bremer.
