ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's basketball team was able to put together their fourth win of the season as they defeated Concordia (Mich.) University 81-60 on Wednesday evening in Ann Arbor, Mich.
A quartet of Blue Devils led LTU towards victory, paced by Travis Baker with a game high 18 points as well as seven rebounds, two assists and one steal. Payton DeWildt added 17 points, four rebounds and as many assists while Christian Reed finished with a career tying 16 points and three rebounds. Erik Davenport also chipped in double-figures with 10 points and nine rebounds and Lucas Vojak pulled down nine rebounds to compliment his six points and three blocks.
The Blue Devils got things started with a pair of jumpers from Reed followed by a layup by Davenport and a three from Baker that put LTU up 17-12 with just under 14 minutes in the first. Moments later Derek Seidl added back-to-back threes, improving the Blue Devil lead to eight. Lawrence Tech was red-hot from the floor, shooting 21 for 32 (65.6%), ending the first period 49-35.
LTU continued to build its lead in the second half as DeWildt resumed play with the Blue Devils' first six points. Lawrence Tech's advantage would grow to as many as 30 points, recording their largest margin yet this season. Concordia fought back late, recording a nine-nil run but by LTU had already sealed their fate and took home an 81-60 win.
The Blue Devils shot 31 for 60 (51.7%) from the field, 8 of 18 (44.4%) behind the arc and 11-13 (84.6%) at the free throw line. LTU finished with 43 rebounds compared to the Cardinals' 36.
The Blue Devils are back in action on February 18 as they host Marygrove (Mich.) College at 3:00 P.M. for senior day at the Don Ridler Field House.
