SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's basketball team fell 69-53 in Sylvania, Ohio, giving Lourdes (Ohio) University their sixth win of the season.
Lawrence Tech (3-23, 2-18 WHAC) was led by Derek Seidl, shooting 5-for-11 to finish with 15 points. Seidl also added three rebounds and one assist. Erik Davenport followed him with 11 points and three assists while Payton DeWildt added 10 points, two steals and two assists. Lucas Vojak pulled down a game high 14 rebound.
After one period of play, LTU and the Gray Wolves were tied with 25 apiece. The Blue Devils took a six-point advantage with 13:27 remaining in the first period but Lourdes rebounded with a trio of buckets that brought the count to 12-12. Neither team could hold onto the ball as LTU committed 10 turnovers while LU tallied 12.
The second half started in the Blue Devil's favor as Jay Redman and Davenport both hit jumpers while Seidl connected on back-to-back threes to give LTU a six-point lead with 15:46 left. Malik Thurman equalized minutes later, fronting a feeding frenzy for the Gray Wolves as they stomped Lawrence Tech with a 24-5 run, putting them down 67-51.
LTU would go nearly three minutes without a bucket, finally scoring on a Christian Reed jumper with just 35 seconds to play. Lourdes notched two more free throws to seal the game 69-53.
The Blue Devils return to the hardwood on February 15 for their last road game as they travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan to face Concordia (Mich.) University at 7:30 P.M.
