ADRIAN, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological (Mich.) University men's volleyball team fell to Campbellsville (Iowa) University 3-0 (25-20, 27-25, 25-14) on Friday evening in Adrian, Michigan during the Siena Heights (Mich.) University Tournament.
Lawrence Tech (0-6, 0-2) fell behind 10-5 as Campbellsville took an early lead in the first set. LTU tried to make a comeback with kills from Cory Lee and Javier Contreras but the Tigers were too much and capped the beginning set 25-20.
LTU kept the second set even, tying the Tigers at 10-10 after a kill from Lawrence Patton. The Tigers gained a 24-22 advantage over the Blue Devils but LTU battled back to tie it up at 25-25. The Tigers would go on to finish the match 27-25.
In the third set, Lawrence Tech fell behind 13-6, eventually falling 22-12 before Joseph Balanda fired a kill from Jacob Paige. It was too little too late as the Tigers finished the set 25-14, sealing their 3-0 win.
Alejandro Gonzalez led the team in hitting percentage with a .353 while finishing with seven kills and two digs. Lawrence Patton recorded a team high nine kills and Cory Lee notched seven kills. Jacob Paige finished the match with 32 assists and six digs. Joshua Eckert added a team high 10 digs.
Lawrence Tech is back on the court tomorrow morning at 11:00 A.M. to take on Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) University.
